Lost Coast
Beginners Backpack

Sinkyone State Park

We love the Lost Coast! One of the most remote parts of California on the Mendocino Coast, you'll see elk, marine wildlife, and the pristine beauty of redwood forests. A perfect backpack for beginners!

On this easy 3-day trip, we'll backpack a 4.5 mile trail through redwood forests along the ocean. Our camp overlooks a black sand beach with views of the coastline. Wildlife is abundant on the Lost Coast—you'll see seals, seabirds, deer, and elk with their newborn calves.

Located 250 miles north of San Francisco on the Humboldt-Mendocino Coast, the Lost Coast is a remote wilderness that was once the home of the Mattole and Sinkyone Indians. It is famous for its beauty.
